Connie S. Gray, ASID
When given a list of jobs to shadow in junior high Connie chose the interior designer field. Connie obtained an associate degree in Interior Design in 1982. Since that time she has always worked in the interior design/furniture business. Through the years Connie has continuously built upon her design knowledge from practical experience. The variety of clients and constant change in the industry has always kept this field interesting to her.
Taking the profession seriously Connie joined MIDA (Maine Interior Designers Association) in 1994 which sought legislation to register designers in this State in an effort to protect the consumer. Finding peers in this group to study with, Connie pursued national accreditation through NCIDQ (National Council of Interior Design Qualification). Upon passing the NCIDQ exam in 2001 Connie applied and became a professional member of ASID (American Society of Interior Design) in 2002. Her membership and participation in this prestigious organization has been strongly encouraged and supported by Pierce Furniture, Inc.
Connie continues to enjoy and be inspired by the collaboration between designer and client.
Doris A. Crowe
Doris grew up in northern Maine and has always had a love of the arts, antiques, space planning and design. In school she studied mechanical drawing and did set design for school plays.
Doris developed strong customer service skills in her professional career while raising her family in Bangor and Portland. After her children were grown, she had an opportunity to work in the furniture business. She worked for seven years in the Portland area selling furniture, doing room design, floor plans and store merchandising.
After a short break from the industry, she has happily returned to the work she loves. Combining her customer service skills and furniture sales experience, Doris is excited to join the design team at Pierce Furniture. Listening to client’s needs and providing ample possibilities in the selection process is what Doris enjoys most. With the wide variety of stylish and quality lines that Pierce Furniture has to offer, she looks forward to a long and satisfying career.
Jessica M. Thomas
Jessica grew up in Portland, but chose to obtain her degrees in Interior Design and English Literature in Honolulu, Hawaii. She feels that experiencing diverse cultures has enriched her knowledge and love of design as well as her love of working with a variety of clients. Upon obtaining her degree Jessica moved with her husband and daughter to Washington state where she worked for Macy’s as a visual merchandiser for several years.
After much consideration, Jessica and her family decided to move back to Maine to be closer to her relatives and to raise her two children in Maine. She was delighted to become part of the team at Pierce Furniture in 2015 where she continues to build her career in Interior Design as well as visual merchandising.
